Centered around the Biwako Ohashi Bridge, this area features lakeside resorts and hot springs, and in summer, the Biwa Lake Fireworks Festival lights up both the sky and the water—creating a lively and open atmosphere.
Easily accessible from the Keihanshin area, this region features lakeside cafés, beaches, and marine activities. It offers a calm waterside atmosphere during the day, while at night, illuminations and events transform its ambiance—blending urban life and nature in perfect harmony.
Seta clams, cultivated in the Seta River at the southern end of Lake Biwa, are known for their rich umami flavor. Commonly enjoyed in miso soup or sake-steamed dishes, they are a beloved local delicacy that reflects the blessings of the lake.
Centered around the National Treasure Hikone Castle and its historic castle town, this area also offers renowned local cuisine such as Omi beef—bringing together tradition and gastronomy.
This area preserves the atmosphere of the historic Nakasendo road and post towns, along with traditional crafts and fermented food culture. Surrounded by seasonal rural landscapes, it offers a deep and immersive way to experience the essence of Japan with all five senses.
“Junjun” is a local dish where Omi beef and vegetables are simmered in a sweet and savory broth. A specialty of the Koto area, it offers melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich flavor—an indulgent taste of regional cuisine.
